Taken at: Downtown LA Rescue Mission

Last weekend I travelled down to SoCal to attend UCSD's graduation and up to LA for CENT's mission trip.
I had so much fun working in the LA Rescue Mission's kitchen. It was hard to walk out of the Mission's building and into the streets where homeless people filled the sidewalks. Tents, sleeping bags, cardboard, whatever would keep them from harm were set up as they're shelter. I've served the homeless in downtown SD before but this was on another scale.
I've begun my search to get involved in something like that up here. If anyone knows where I can serve the homeless in the bay area, let me know...

Beauty in silence...

I woke up early enough to catch the world cup match between England and Paraguay at a local Pub. The lack of noise I experience once I walked out of my door was incredible. No cars, no people, no horns... just blank. It was nice to take a deep breath in and know that I can enjoy the moment of silence, to reflect back on the night and look forward to a new day.
We put too much effort into filling our schedules, how busy we are or how busy we want to be... I guess what I'm saying is don't forget to be silent sometimes. To breathe in peace and recollect yourself.
Ahhhhhh..

I guess there is a big sport tournament or something coming up soon. It seems like everyone on earth accept the US is excited about it. So, to work up my own excitement I browsed around the world cup website...

What country do you think this guy plays for... Brazil...? Argentina...?
No... freakin' JAPAN! How did it happen, i dunno. But apparently he moved to Japan and changed his citizenship. Still though, he must stand out among the japanese guys.
